Physical Education Overview

Welcome to the Physical Education Blog

The Physical Education Teachers for 2020 are: Laiton, Jess and Chris.

“Physical fitness is not only one of the keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity” (John F Kennedy)

Active children are more likely to become active adults. Doing more physical activity in children have been associated with higher test scores in Reading and Maths. When kids are active, their brain develops, allowing for new types of activity. Frequent physical activity has been associated with improved behaviour in the classroom and beyond. Frequent exercises decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety in children. Regular exercise with children improves self- image. Children who are active for at least 60 minutes per day demonstrate lower rates of obesity.

The Kororoit Creek Primary School Physical Education Program for 2020 is filled with innovative ways to get students more engaged and involved in physical activity. To support this, the Victorian Curriculum and the PYP framework are used to scaffold the Health and Physical Education Curriculum across Grades P-6. The program connects with classroom units across all year levels where applicable. This ensures that all learning can be interconnected and allows to us to make the learning more meaningful.

This blog has been developed to inform the community of Kororoit Creek what the students have achieved, what they are involved in and where they are headed with their physical development.

The Learner Profile, PYP Attitudes, and the Transdisciplinary Skills are integrated with all of the learning experiences that students are engaged in regardless of subject area.
